Presenter: Dr. Cathleen Pittman, Founder of Our Learning Studio

Description: Do you want to help your child get started on school tasks and actually finish them? Join me for this in-person workshop where we'll explore four important factors to help your child get in gear. We'll explore these areas: routines, tools, team members, and self-talk.

We'll also look at WHY students may have trouble getting started, even when they know what to do. This session will give you some tools to support your child's executive function system at home!

This workshop is ideal for parents of upper elementary, middle school, high school, and even college students in need of executive function support. I look forward to learning with you on August 25th!

Workshops are designed to give parents practical tools and strategies they can use right away to support their children at home. I also share resources and ideas that can help educators guide their students more effectively in the classroom.

Workshops are typically 60-90 minutes long and are held in person in a small group setting, allowing time for discussion, questions, and real-life problem solving. I offer group workshops throughout the year, and each session is designed to be engaging, supportive, and immediately useful.

Upcoming workshop dates and topics will be posted here on the website and shared in my monthly OLS Academic Support Guide. (Click here to subscribe.)

Here are topics that I'll cover in 2026:

  • What Are Executive Function Skills—and Why Do They Matter?

  • Why Smart Kids Struggle: Understanding Executive Function Gaps

  • Getting Out the Door Without the Stress
    Morning routines that actually work

  • Homework Without Tears
Building systems for planning, starting, and finishing work

  • Time Management for Kids & Teens
(Why “you have plenty of time” doesn’t work)

  • Task Initiation: Helping Kids Get Started (Without Nagging)

  • Working Memory: Why They Forget Everything—and What Helps

  • Helping Kids Manage Big Emotions

  • How to Help Your Child Get Organized (Even If You're Not)
