Academic + Executive Function Coaching is all about helping students feel more confident, capable, and in control of their school lives. Even the brightest students can feel overwhelmed by missed assignments, messy backpacks, procrastination, or not knowing where to start. We work one-on-one to build simple, practical strategies for staying organized, managing time, planning ahead, and getting things done.
Executive function skills are the mental processes that help us plan ahead, stay organized, maintain focus, remember instructions, manage our time, and handle multiple responsibilities at once. In today’s demanding academic world, many students find these skills challenging to develop on their own.
Students may benefit from coaching if they show signs such as:

There are five steps to the academic + executive function coaching process:
1. Inquiry call: This 20-minute call is a chance for you to share your goals and determine if this academic coaching program is the right match.
2. Onboarding process: You can share any assessments, IEPs, 504 plans, and other documentation. We'll work together to set clear goals and expectations for the coaching sessions.
3. Academic + EF coaching sessions: These 50-minute sessions are held on a weekly basis, and they are individualized for each student. We will work on strengthening executive function skills to help break the cycle of overwhelm, procrastination, and disorganization. In-person sessions are held in High Point, NC, and online sessions are held in our Zoom classroom.
4. Parent check-in meetings: Parent meetings are held each month to provide regular updates, discuss progress, look at the executive function strategies we're practicing, and adjust goals as needed. Parent meetings are optional for college-aged students.
5. Phase out: As skills are gained and goals are met, we will discuss an incremental phase out from coaching. In general, many students participate in coaching sessions for one semester, but this varies by student.
